April moved to Melbourne from Darwin to study Visual Art at RMIT. Sculpture and installation were her main areas of interest. April then moved to Adelaide to study Footwear for 2 years. Now April has a focus on footwear for theatrical performance,often addressing a character (real or make believe) to inform the design process. April is inspired by cinematic moments,rare leather hides,circus performers,object design, Japanese animation, and the possibilities of time travel.
